ABOUT US

St. George Coptic Orthodox Church

in Daytona Beach, FL was founded in 1985 by Fr. Ghobrial Abdelsayed among a group of 5 families.  These families were served by 3 different priests until His Holiness Pope Shenouda’s visit on October 14, 1989 and his promise to his sheep for ordaining a priest to them.  In 1990, Father Isaac Bassily was ordained by H.H.Pope Shenouda III as a priest of the immigrant land, and the Daytona Beach community.  The church was consecrated by His Holiness on March 2, 1991.  This was the second visit by His Holiness to our church, and we were later blessed with a third visit in 1999 to consecrate the baptismal and icons of the church.

The church was also blessed with Bishop Youssef as a general bishop in October 1993 who carried out the first priest meeting for a group of 10 priests at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church.

The construction of the church was split into five phases ...
